Hotel District Nation occupies a quiet street in the 11th arrondissement, a stone’s throw from Place de la Nation, in an area where Paris feels almost like a village again. It is often reached via Rue des Boulets station, a four-minute walk away, or by getting off at Nation itself, a station that provides direct service to Bastille and République.

The façade does not try to impress. Two buildings face each other on either side of Rue Guénot, connected by a reception desk open day and night. The staff, who switch easily between French, English, Italian, and Spanish, welcome guests without fuss or heavy protocol.

On the ground floor, the atmosphere remains understated. Neutral tones, contemporary furniture, and a few Art Deco lines inherited from the renovation carried out in 2023.

Upstairs, the 32 rooms come in several formats. The standard rooms, around eight square meters, favor efficiency over space: a double bed, a bathroom, and enough room to set down your bags without spending the day there. For those looking for a bit more space, the superior double rooms increase to fifteen square meters. Two rooms are arranged over two levels, with a kitchenette on the ground floor. Two others are designed for people with reduced mobility.

The bedding, by Epeda, has recently been replaced. Rainfall shower, hairdryer, kettle, air conditioning throughout. You can work at the desk or from the bed, and the Wi-Fi keeps up without faltering.

In the morning, head to the breakfast room. The buffet, served between 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., comes at an extra cost, a formula that leaves the choice to those who prefer to head straight to a neighborhood bakery, toward Rue Faidherbe or Charonne.

When you step outside, the street slowly comes to life. Bastille is ten minutes away, the Canal Saint-Martin the same distance, and Père Lachaise is a short walk to the east.

One tip to finish: if you are a light sleeper, ask for a courtyard-facing room. The walls between some rooms sometimes let conversations through in the early evening, something that a little soft music does not quite solve.
