Settle in the 14th arrondissement, ten minutes on foot from Montparnasse station, on a quiet street that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of the surrounding area. The Montparnasse Tower and its business district are reached in ten minutes on foot, and the Luxembourg Gardens in twenty.

The Mansart-style building retains something of the atmosphere of the artists’ quarter that once filled these streets. On the ground floor, the reception opens onto a lobby where a self-service coffee machine runs all day, with tea and hot chocolate included, while travelers fill out their arrival forms.

As you head up the floors, the 44 rooms come in several formats. The Mezzanine rooms can accommodate up to five people with a king-size bed and a double bed or two single beds on the upper level of the room. The Family rooms, with their bunk beds, are designed for children. The Deluxe rooms focus on a walk-in shower and separate toilets, while the Classic rooms offer the simplicity of a queen-size bed for one or two travelers. Fruit juices, pastries, hot drinks, sometimes scrambled eggs and a bit of cold cuts for the hungrier guests. Service continues until eleven o’clock, with an express option for those catching trains. This generous buffet comes at an extra charge, which may be surprising for a 4-star establishment, but the price remains reasonable, and the continental option served in the room saves time without sacrificing much.

At the desk, the team is available to point you toward a nearby crêperie or an unlikely address serving Russian specialties hidden on a neighboring street. Dry cleaning service, luggage storage, a business corner for business travelers: the hotel keeps one foot in the working world, which partly explains the calm atmosphere in the evenings.

Stepping out of the hotel, you are five minutes from Pernety station and Line 13, which runs all the way to the Champs-Élysées. Denfert-Rochereau and its Catacombs museum are also nearby. The neighborhood is far from a postcard scene, more focused on offices and everyday Parisian life than on monuments, but Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Latin Quarter, and the Sorbonne are within a short ride, as are Montmartre and Notre-Dame farther away.

One last tip for early departures: choose the express breakfast before heading to the station. A coffee and a pastry are more than enough before reaching the platform.
