The first thing you notice is a discreet façade, on a quiet street a few minutes from the metro station, where the noise from the square quickly fades away. Push open the door, and the lobby surprises with its simplicity: a counter, a coffee machine and self-service tea, a few chairs to sit down. Reception remains open at all hours, which is reassuring when you arrive late one evening on a delayed train.

The rooms, spread over several floors served by an elevator, have been renovated without any great decor. Twelve square meters for the singles, doubles and twins, a little more for the triples. The air conditioning runs quietly, the soundproofing does its job, and a satellite TV finds its place in a corner of the room. You do not come here for a room that is a showstopper; you come to sleep properly after a day of walking around Paris. A few, rarer rooms open onto a small terrace with a table and chairs, while others overlook the inner courtyard, even quieter. The only drawback to note before booking: no room is equipped for wheelchair access, something to check if reduced mobility is among your criteria.

In the morning, there is no proper breakfast room. Instead, you head to the bakery right next door, or settle in at the La Boucherie restaurant a few meters away for a more classic breakfast. In the evening, a lounge bar welcomes those who want to extend the day with a last drink before heading upstairs, and room service remains available for the most tired.

The neighborhood, for its part, is worth exploring over several days. Montmartre and the Sacré-Cœur are about a fifteen-minute walk away, and the Palais Garnier is not much farther. For dining, Pink Mamma and Pizzeria Popolare stand out for an uncomplicated Italian evening. The Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe remain accessible in a few metro stops or a short car ride.

One last detail: ask for a courtyard-facing room if you go to bed early; the street can liven up on some weekday evenings.
