Seventeen rooms, spread over six floors. A reception desk open day and night, in both English and French. The staff quickly remembers each guest's habits, which explains why some guests return there for stays of several nights without ever changing their address in the neighborhood.

As you go up the floors, you understand what gives the house its character: each room bears the name of a contemporary painter, and an original painting by that artist hangs there. The furniture remains understated. The air conditioning runs quietly. The soundproofing does the rest: close the door, and the street disappears.

One point should be noted before booking. The rooms are not suitable for people with reduced mobility, and the top floor is not served by the elevator. A late-nineteenth-century building keeps its constraints, and this is one of them, so it is better to know in advance rather than discover it on site.

On the ground floor, the breakfast room opens at seven o'clock and closes at ten-thirty. The buffet combines still-warm pastries, fresh fruit, eggs, and cold cuts, with a plant-based milk option added recently. The service is offered at an extra cost, which does not stop the room from filling up every morning.

The bar just next door turns into a lounge at the end of the day. A few guests settle in there with a book borrowed from the hotel's library, while others simply wait before heading back out to dinner at one of the nearby tables, just steps away.

When you go out, the Michel-Ange - Auteuil station is a two-minute walk away, served by lines 9 and 10. From there, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Élysées, or Galeries Lafayette can all be reached without changing trains. Roland-Garros, the Parc des Princes, and the Auteuil racecourse are about a fifteen-minute walk away, longer if you linger a bit around the Bois de Boulogne.

Second point to know: the hotel does not have on-site parking. Porte d'Auteuil is only a two-minute drive away, but you will then have to look for a parking spot in the surrounding streets, as is often the case in this residential neighborhood.

One last detail, for those arriving late: after nine o'clock in the evening, it is best to notify reception before leaving.
