On the way back down to the street, you pass the bar. Tiny, but open day and night, run by the front desk team. Two tables, a sofa, a few stools. Nothing showy, but you can order a drink there at any hour, room service included. The hotel, however, has no restaurant as such, nor a gym or business area. A choice that quickly makes sense once outside, given how Rue Dauphine and its surroundings are full of dining options, from the Procope right next door to the bistros lining Boulevard Saint-Michel.

On that front, the location does the job. Notre-Dame is a ten-minute walk away, the Louvre twenty, and the Musée d’Orsay is not much farther. Saint-Michel metro station, five minutes away, opens up the rest of the city for those who want to go as far as Montmartre.

One last detail, for the morning you leave early to visit Notre-Dame before the crowds: ask reception to set aside two pastries for you. The breakfast room closes at 11 a.m., but they’re happy to help those who head out before then.
