As you push open the door, you come upon a reception desk open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., run with an almost home-like attention. The staff quickly gets to know regulars, takes the time to recommend a Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood, or to store luggage before check-in time, which is set at 3:00 p.m.

The 21 rooms come in several formats: single, double, twin with a garden view, duplexes with an office on the ground floor and a bedroom upstairs, or family rooms made up of two rooms connected by a door. Green and beige dominate the decor, without any overly trendy effect. Each room has a private bathroom, satellite TV, and a courtesy tray with a kettle.

As the building is historic, you often have to climb several flights of stairs to reach your room, and the property cannot accommodate guests with reduced mobility. This is something to know before booking, the trade-off for preserving an old building without major alterations. Another detail to anticipate: soundproofing between rooms remains decent without being perfect, a little more noticeable in rooms near the reception than at the end of the corridor.

In the morning, head to the private garden if the weather allows. A planted, peaceful space where breakfast is served: pastries, fresh bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, hot drinks. If it rains, the dining room takes over with the same formula.

The neighborhood offers two different experiences. On one side, classic Parisian brasseries and the terraces of Butte-aux-Cailles, ten minutes away on foot. On the other, Paris’s Chinatown, with its Asian restaurants just a few meters from the door. Pho 14 or Song Huong often come up in conversations with guests at checkout.

As for transport, Tolbiac station (line 7) is one minute away, Place d’Italie (line 6) five minutes away, and Olympiades (line 14) eight minutes away. Enough to reach the Louvre, Gare de Lyon, or the Eiffel Tower without any hassle. The Italie 2 shopping center is also not far, handy for a last-minute forgotten item.

Pets are accepted up to 10 kg, for an extra charge. Luggage storage is free, as is wifi. There is no on-site parking, but several options are immediately nearby.

A tip for the morning: reserve your table in the garden the night before at reception. In good weather, the best spots go quickly.
