The ibis budget Paris La Villette 19th is tucked away in a quiet corner of the 19th arrondissement, just a stone’s throw from the Bassin de la Villette. When you come out of Jaurès metro station, it only takes a few minutes on foot to get there, and the atmosphere already changes: less noise, more water, a city that breathes differently.

The canal is not far away. In the morning, you can walk along the quays to Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, or head toward the Zénith and the Cité des Sciences, barely ten minutes away on foot.

To reach Sacré-Cœur or the Champs-Élysées, however, you will need the metro. Two lines run very close by, making it easy to reach the city center in a quarter of an hour or a little half hour depending on the destination. It is not right next door, but it is an efficient starting point, away from the hustle and bustle of the most touristy streets.

Reception is open day and night. People sometimes arrive late, and someone is always available to hand over the keys.

The rooms are designed for the essentials. Eleven to twelve square meters, a large shower, separate toilets, air conditioning, a wall-mounted television. Nothing superfluous, but nothing missing either. The triple rooms offer a double bed and a bunk bed, a setup that works well for a group of friends or a family with older children, as the mezzanine is not recommended for children under six.

On the ground floor, the breakfast buffet opens early, for an extra charge. Regulars talk about a generous spread, fresh bread, pastries, enough to keep you going until lunch.

The wifi works everywhere, in the rooms as well as in the common areas, and a vending machine takes over for a late-night craving. The Green Key label is displayed at the entrance, a discreet reminder of careful management of energy and water.

The covered parking lot is still paid, like most places in the neighborhood.

One last useful landmark: the supermarket just below the hotel stays open late, handy for a bottle of water or a snack before heading back up to the room.
