Mercure Paris Centre Tour Eiffel overlooks the Seine, in the 15th arrondissement, a two-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. You step out of the hotel, look up, and the Iron Lady is already there, between the buildings.

On the ground floor, the lobby plays on light wood and natural light. You find, even if you do not necessarily stop to notice it, the silhouette of the tower repeated throughout the decor, right down to the rooms where the motif reappears as a backdrop, in negative on one wall, or as a discreet design on a headboard.

Across nearly 405 rooms, the categories change names but keep a certain consistency: Standard rooms for the most part, more compact, where the choice has been made to have a shower rather than a bathtub, and Privilege rooms higher up in the building, with sometimes, on the twelfth floor, the tower framed by the window without having asked for it. Families often opt for the Privilege Junior Suite, with its sofa bed that accommodates children without encroaching on the parents' space.

The garden at the back is more surprising than expected in this rather mineral neighborhood. A few tables, some greenery. The noise of the city fading away. For work, seven modular meeting rooms are spread between the ground floor and the technical floors, from the most intimate setup to one that can host several dozen people. The fitness room, for its part, has a view that would almost make the treadmill bearable: the Eiffel Tower, right in front, as a reward.

After sunset, the neighborhood falls back into an almost provincial calm. No lively terrace right downstairs, no nightlife within easy reach. For a leisurely dinner, it is better to cross over to the Trocadéro or walk along the Seine to Quai Branly. This silence has a useful upside: you sleep well, traffic remains distant, the rooms are said to be soundproofed, and most reviews say the same, with the exception, sometimes, of an echo from the gym on the top floor that makes its way down to the lower level.

The staff, meanwhile, is often described in the same terms: warm welcome, sometimes earlier than expected when the room is already ready, attention to the small details of a family stay. A team that seems to know its neighborhood, able to point out the Franprix a hundred meters away for water or snacks, rather than pushing the minibar.

One tip, to finish: go out early, before 7 a.m., when the garden terrace is still empty and the tower, in the distance, stands out in complete silence.
