The Hôtel de Crillon, in Paris, has overlooked Place de la Concorde since 1909, in an 18th-century building designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel for Louis XV. Four years of work, between 2013 and 2017, preceded its reopening under the Rosewood banner. The façade and historic salons remain listed historic monuments, and you feel it as soon as you cross the threshold: the vestibule plays on marble and high ceilings, with a silence you won’t find anywhere else on the square.

On the upper floors, 124 rooms and suites bear the signature of a team assembled around decorator Aline Asmar d’Amman, with Tristan Auer and Chahan Minassian providing support. The rooms range from around 32 to 45 m², while the suites go up to 350 m² for the largest. The marble bathrooms hide underfloor heating and a mirror that transforms into a television screen at the flick of a hand. On the fourth floor, the two Grand Apartments designed by Karl Lagerfeld reinterpret the 18th century with a thoroughly contemporary eye, including a terrace on one of them. The Marie-Antoinette and Duc de Crillon suites have kept their original decor, restored with care rather than reenacted.

One detail to know before booking: the rooms facing the square enjoy a rare view of the obelisk, but they also pick up traffic noise and the bustle of the Concorde. Those facing the courtyard lose that panorama but gain quiet, a trade-off that matters especially in summer, when you sleep with the windows open.

On the dining side, the landscape has recently changed. L’Écrin, the starred restaurant that had carried the palace’s gastronomic reputation since 2017, closed at the end of December 2025 for a complete overhaul, including a new name and a new decor, with reopening announced for early 2027. In the meantime, it is Alan Taudon, who arrived in June 2026 after several years at L’Orangerie at George V, who oversees all of the Crillon’s dining venues, in liaison with Paul Pairet for Nonos & Comestibles, where guests come for seafood, charcuterie and the cheese counter. Le Jardin d’Hiver, beneath its glass roof, remains the breakfast and afternoon tea spot.

At tea time, in fact, the service can seem a little less well-oiled than at breakfast, especially when the room suddenly fills up late in the afternoon. Booking and aiming for a quieter slot, late morning or very late in the day, avoids that slight lull.

This summer, a terrace that had until now been closed to the public opened for an experience imagined by Alan Taudon, L’Herbier Secret, by reservation only and until September 25. It is a way to see a corner of the Crillon that few guests usually come across.

In the evening, the Les Ambassadeurs bar looks out at the obelisk through large bay windows, with more than 130 champagnes on the list and, on certain nights, live music that takes over from conversation.

In the basement, the Sense, A Rosewood Spa, offers an indoor pool, hammam, sauna and a Himalayan salt wall in front of which you can simply sit for a while. The hair salon and barber are right next door, and the fitness room stays open day and night.

One final tip for the morning: settle in near the windows of the Jardin d’Hiver before 8:30 a.m.; the room is still empty and the low light barely touches the tables.
