The Hôtel de Roubaix overlooks a quiet street in the 3rd arrondissement, about a hundred meters from the Musée des Arts et Métiers. It is often reached on foot, after getting off at Réaumur-Sébastopol station, two minutes from the entrance.

On the ground floor, a piano waits in a corner of the lounge. It is not just a decorative object: Christophe, who runs the hotel today, plays it in his free time. An accordionist devoted to Limousin folk traditions, he took over the family business that his parents had started in 1967, and continues to juggle both lives at once, that of musician and that of hotelier.

The decor tells this story in small touches. In the corridors and rooms, bright colors coexist with comic-strip reproductions, sometimes placed next to more classic furniture, sometimes frankly kitsch. You either like it or you do not. The style is not aiming for Scandinavian sobriety; it prefers a playful nod and bold color. In the breakfast room, framed Tintin covers set the tone, between two cups of coffee.

The 53 rooms remain simple in their amenities, as one would expect in a 2-star hotel. Parquet flooring, wardrobe, private bathroom: nothing luxurious, but everything works. Free Wi-Fi and satellite TV complete the setup. Families or groups will find triple or quadruple configurations, one room is adapted for guests with reduced mobility, and the elevator serves all floors.

In the morning, head to the dining room for a continental breakfast, served from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Expect to pay an extra 16 euros; there is no big buffet here, but enough to keep you going until lunch before heading out to explore the Marais or Les Halles.

Once outside, the neighborhood is easy to discover on foot. The Centre Pompidou and its exhibitions, Place de la République, the Canal Saint-Martin: everything can be reached in just a few metro stops or a half-hour walk. The Marais, with its narrow streets and museums (Picasso, Carnavalet), begins almost around the corner.

On the practical side, the reception stays open 24/7, luggage storage is available, as well as a safe and air conditioning in the rooms. Pets are welcome, cats as well as dogs. A public parking lot is located 50 meters away (note the height limit of 1.90 m), convenient for those arriving by car even though the hotel does not have its own garage.
