O.Lysée Hôtel is located at the start of Rue du Colisée, just a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées, between Avenue Montaigne and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. You push open a door that looks more like the entrance to an apartment than to a four-star hotel. No imposing front desk at the entrance: a lounge, armchairs, subdued lighting that sets the tone from the very first step.

At reception, if it can still be called that, the team speaks seven languages and gives sightseeing advice with the same ease as they handle practical matters. You arrive tired from a flight, and leave with the address of a bistro two streets away, slipped in between two tips on the nearest metro stop.

The 31 rooms play with terracotta and glacier blue tones, with mirror effects that visually enlarge spaces that remain, to be honest, on the compact side. The entry-level categories are about a dozen square meters: enough for one or two nights alone, but tight with several people and luggage. For those who need real room to spread out, it is better to go for a Superior or one of the Terrace rooms, which gain a few welcome extra square meters and, in some cases, a genuine outdoor corner with a table and seating.

In the bathroom, there is a shower gel and lotion by Rituals, a detail that makes a change from the anonymous bottles found elsewhere in this price range.

From morning onward, the breakfast room comes to life. The buffet, served until 10:30 a.m., offers eggs, cured meats, dairy products, and a vegan option alongside pastries and Parisian breads. Breakfast remains an extra charge, around twenty euros, which may come as a surprise for a property of this standard. The coffee, however, is solid, as are the fresh juices.

After 10:30 a.m., the same room changes function. Tables free up, the Wi-Fi is on, USB sockets appear near the banquettes, and what was once a breakfast room becomes an informal workspace, with homemade pastries and snack jars for those in a hurry. A few alcoves make it possible to hold a business meeting without having to leave the hotel.

At the end of a corridor, a room has been turned into a treatment cocoon, in partnership with Calma Paris. There is no spa as such with a pool or hammam: the offering remains occasional, about half a dozen treatments à la carte, including a 60-minute ritual designed to help you switch off between visits. Those looking for a full wellness area will see this more as a discreet bonus than as a central selling point of the stay.

The elevator, meanwhile, remains tiny, a relic of the old building that is quickly forgiven once you are in the corridor, where natural light makes up for the rest.

One final tip: if the room allows it, take your coffee up to the terrace around 8:30 a.m., before the sun slips behind the rooftops of the Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
