The 1K Paris occupies an entire stretch of Boulevard du Temple, on the edge of the Marais and République, in a building that gives nothing away about what it hides. Push open the door, and royal blue takes over the whole space. Two resin iguanas stand guard in the lobby, Peruvian masks cover the walls, and gilded details catch the light. It immediately becomes clear that you are not going to sleep in an ordinary hotel.

Even on the ground floor, you can already guess that a bar is hiding somewhere behind the kitchens. We’ll come back to it later, once night has fallen.

Upstairs, the 48 rooms go for a pared-back look: clean lines, natural materials, and lighting you can adjust from the bed depending on your mood. The M Supérieure room, the entry-level option, stays compact at twenty to twenty-five square meters, which in this neighborhood where every square meter costs a lot is more or less standard for the area rather than an exception. For those who like more room to spread out, the Deluxe L or the Junior Suite offer more space, with views over the inner courtyard. And for a special occasion, the Pool Suite rises to seventy square meters in duplex, with a heated rooftop pool, loungers, and views over the Paris rooftops.

In the morning, breakfast is served in the dining room or directly in your room, with a tray brought up by room service. In the evening, everything revolves around the table again. At Inka, Peruvian cuisine is served in an indigo-blue setting, with masks and Andean paintings on the walls: ceviche, tiraditos, quinoa salad, yakitori-grilled fish. The service, however, does not run continuously: it is open Monday to Saturday for dinner, and only on Sunday lunchtime for brunch, so it is best to book your table in advance if you plan to dine there on a weekday evening.

A little further on, El Vecino serves homemade tacos with generous fillings, in the spirit of Mexican street food.

It is at the end of the meal that you find the bar glimpsed on arrival. A discreet door behind the Inka kitchens leads to the Mezcaleria: multicolored Mexican cushions, XXL crosses, hundreds of stacked bottles, and skulls as decor. Order a mezcal there, an agave-based spirit, to the sound of Latin music and old-school R&B, until two in the morning.

For those who want to work up a sweat before sleeping rather than after drinking, a Technogym-equipped fitness room is available 24/7.

One last tip, on the way: at the Mezcaleria on weekends, it is better to arrive before 9 p.m. After that time, the best seats near the bar are already taken.
